Harris Teeter TRIPLES coupons this week

Today (Wednesday, May 27) through next Tuesday, June 2,  Harris Teeter grocery stores are tripling manufacturer coupons up to 99 cents in value. They will triple 20 coupons per day per customer. See Here for other rules.

YWCA Offers Y Commute Pass

The YWCA in Asheville has come up with an affordable solution for people who commute to work by foot or bicycle and want a shower before heading into the office.

The YWCA, located at 185 S. French Broad Ave. is introducing a trial program called the Y Commute Pass which will be offered during the months of June, July and August 2009. This program will allow bicycle commuters and walkers access to the locker room, a locker, and shower for $50.00 for the three months.

Garden Jubilee Festival in Hendersonville

If you love plants, downtown Hendersonville, NC is the place to be for the 16th Annual Garden Jubilee Festival this weekend, May 23 – 24, 2009.

More than 125 vendors will offer handmade arts and crafts, plants and items to enhance your outdoor living area. Nurseries selling many varieties of annuals, perennials, vegetables, trees, shrubs, and hard to find plants will be located on every block of the festival from Sixth Avenue to Second Avenue.

Bill Slack, a landscape and gardening specialist with Southern Living Magazine, will make his 7th apperance at Garden Jubilee. He will give clinics in the Lowe’s lawn and garden tent located at the Visitors Information Center, 201 South Main Street. Mr. Slack will offer three talks on Saturday, and two on Sunday.

The Lowe’s Kids Clinic located at the Visitors Information Center (both days) will offer fun hands-on projects for children ages 4-12.

White Squirrel Festival

The town of Brevard, NC will be hopping this weekend with the 6th annual White Squirrel Festival. Check the website for the lineup of lots of FREE music, fun, and of course, attention on the area’s famous albino squirrels.

The Southeast Tourism Society has named this festival a Top 20 Event for the month of May 2009. Plus, Asheville Citizen-Times readers voted the festival “Best Spring Music Festival in Western North Carolina” in a 2008 poll.

Carl Sandburg Folk Music Festival

Looking for some free entertainment on Memorial Day, May 25, 2009? Head to Flat Rock, NC for the annual Carl Sandburg Folk Music Festival.

The event honors Carl Sandburg’s contribution to America’s written history through his collection of folk music found in The American Songbag. The festival features folk musicians from around the country.

BOGO Tuesday Nights at Minor League Games

Asheville Tourists Offer FREE Youth Clinic

The Asheville Tourists will host a FREE youth clinic on Saturday, May 30, 2009 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The clinic will be followed by the annual “Meet the Tourists” Luncheon. There is a $5 fee for lunch. All proceeds from the luncheon will benefit the Asheville Tourists Children’s Fund.

All kids attending the clinic will receive a free ticket to a future Tourists game. For additional information, contact the Tourists front office at (828) 258-0428.

Clay Day at the Folk Art Center

Set your calendar for June 6, 2009 for a fun FREE family event at the Folk Art Center. Clay Day runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This event features demonstrations of throwing on the potter’s wheel, hand building and surface design. There are hands-on activities for kids and adults.
